Sales tax: rates, registrations, tax on transactions
Start with your country's rates in one click (Canada's GST/HST, QST and PST, or UAE VAT), add your registration, and pick the tax on each category. Amounts include tax, as on a receipt.
Set up
Where in the app: Accounting → Sales tax
- 1
Use the starter for your country
Creates the tax account and the usual rates for your country (and province in Canada).
- 2
Add your registration
The authority, your number, how often you file, and since when.
- 3
Adjust rates
Add, rename or archive. A rate in use keeps its percentage.
Not registered? Set nothing up and no tax picker appears.
Tax on transactions
Choose the tax beside each category. Amounts include tax, so 113.00 with HST 13% is split into 100.00 of sales and 13.00 of tax collected, and the form says so as you type. Tax you paid is split out only when you can claim it back.
